Riverside, Avondale & Ortega

Riverside Avondale

Every city has a historic center.  For Jacksonville, that center is the Riverside, Avondale and Ortega area.  Most of the homes predate World War II, and feature traditional style architecture ranging from Colonial to Mediterranean to Bungalow style homes.  If you’re looking for an historic area, with plenty of arts & entertainment – this area is for you.

The area is also host to the Riverside Avondale Preservation, a private non-profit membership organization whose mission is to enhance and preserve the architecture, history, cultural heritage and economic viability of the historic neighborhoods of Riverside and Avondale. RAP is now one of the South’s largest neighborhood preservation groups, guarding the ever-evolving mix of history, architecture, culture and commerce in the area.

Riverside, located along the banks of the St. Johns River, has an urban feel, and is also the site of Jacksonville’s “Five Points” area. Five Points is an area near the intersection of Margaret, Lomax and Park Streets (5 streets converging together), which features everything from boutique shopping, trendy restaurants, art galleries, coffee shops and much more.  The area is considered hip and trendy and definitely on the more liberal side of the spectrum social.

The area is walkable, pedestrian and bicycle friendly, and home to friendly neighborhoods and streets. To learn more about the Riverside & Avondale areas, and the many advantages of Historic Living, contact a Boselli Clark market expert today at 904-285-1550.

Historic Ortega is situated along the St. Johns River south of Riverside and north of Jacksonville Naval Air Station. The area is affluent in nature, featuring many turn of the century homes and estates, some located on the River. The area is home to many of Jacksonville’s most wealthy families.  Old money, or new – you’re welcome in this quaint but affluent area.  This island features a small area known as Old Ortega where there are a few restaurants and boutique shops are found.

Historic Ortega also features the exclusive Florida Yacht Club and Timuquana Country Club, one of Jacksonville’s oldest golf courses.  The area is finished off with large majestic oak trees, mansions and parks all of which make Historic Ortega one of the most desirable residential communities in Northeast Florida.
